Verifikasjon Materialteknologi Inspeksjon AS was founded in 1994 in Fredrikstad with the aim to give specialist support to Statens Vegvesen, Norway within materials, fabrication and quality assurance for the work with welded bridges in high strength steel, fabricated at different sites in Norway and abroad.
 
The Company moved to new offices in Asker in 2004. New clients became major oil companies, various mechanical industries, authorities for oil and gas in Norway and in addition judges and lawyers. During the year 2000 VMI expanded from 6 to 14 shareholders. With this expansion the company competence and capacity increased significantly. The increased activity was the basis for new offices first in the Oslo region and finally since 2004 at Nesbru, Norway.

  
After being certified through the Achilles Joint Qualification System for suppliers to the oil industry services to oil companies have become of primary activity.
